I dedicate the lyrics of this lovely song to Leslie and Lorne to celebrate their forthcoming marriage.
Love is lovelier the second time around
Just as wonderful with both feet on the ground
It's that second time you hear your love song sung
Makes you think perhaps love, like youth is wasted on the young
Love's more comfortable the second time you fall
Like a friendly home the second time you call
Who can say what brought us to this miracle we've found?
There are those who'll bet love comes but once, and yet
I'm so glad we met the second time around.
Leslie and Lorne's forthcoming marriage brings to mind when my first marriage collapsed,
I found myself alone with three adorable little girls to raise, I didn't think I would fall in love again, yet I did, just a year later....
We didn't marry for a few years as we wanted to go slowly so that the 'girls' would get used to Ian and him to them, We both maintained our own homes but spent weekends together until, one daughter asked Ian when he was going to marry 'our Mum' ?
Whoosh ! It all happened then, engagement ring on finger and 10 months later we were married....27 years on and still happy,
So, all best wishes dear Leslie and Lorne for a long and loving marriage.
My thanks to the Lovely Mrs Nesbitt for compiling ABCWednesday and the lexical Roger for being such a long suffering administrator

Hello Roger Owen G.
ReplyDeleteIt is sweet when love is found 'the second time around',
Leslie and Lorne do really deserve our support, particularly as they've had some serious health issues to deal with over the last couple of years, yet through thick and thin they've stuck together, which is admirable.
I wish them all the joy in the world.
Best wishes Di..x
Hello Hildred,
ReplyDeletelovely to hear from you.
Thank you for your words of support, I'm terribly fond of Lesley, she came over to Liverpool 2 years ago and it was so good to meet her.
So, best wishes all round to the happy couple,
Di.x
Hi Lisa, so pleased to hear from you again, I am enjoying ABCW and meeting so many different people.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your sentiments which, of course, I echo!
'LONG LIVE their happy LIFE'.

Hi Cherie,
ReplyDeleteIt is very touching that Leslie and Lorne have found LOVE again. LIFE is a strange thing,
One never knows just what's around the corner.
I feel quite sentimental when I read the lyrics of that song, Frank Sinatra recorded it, I don't doubt many others did too!

Hi Di! What à lovely post you made for Leslie and Lorne..
ReplyDeleteGreat that you met before. That's a wonderful thing about blogging. You meet people from many other countries. So did I!
Thanks for your visit and comment. My eldest daughter could also read before she went to school and she was a fanatic reader all her life of 47 years. My Australian daughter, who is now à librarian, loves reading just as much. My grandchildren are the same.
Have a great week!
Wil, ABCW Team
Hi Wil,
ReplyDeleteso good to hear from you again, I'm really LOVING this ABCW, I've met so many people (metaphorically speaking), in such a short time.
Meeting Leslie was a great joy and she was exactly as I imagined she would be, so engaging and interesting, a truly LOVELY LADY.
I've also met Denise Nesbitt, she's also LOVELY and great fun...It is amazing how many friends one can make via the blogsphere, as you say.
Have a wonderful week,
Best wishes,
Di.x

ReplyDeleteI'm glad you found your soul mate the second time around and that your girls were happy with it too.
Thanks for the wishes on my trip to Mexico.
It will be exciting to see how Lives are changed and all the wonderful work that will be done there.
Lots of hard work but oh so worth it.

Love di..xx
Hello Liz, good to hear from you, I think with a second marriage comes security and a more mature kind of love, not that it is recommended for all, particularly when children are involved.
ReplyDeleteThat is why we took our time so that, our 'Girl' accepted the situation and of course, they still loved their father and he them.
They've always called Ian, 'Ian', yet send him cards with 'Dad' on.
He makes a great Grandpa too.
Love Di.xx
