Heart Happiness Humour..

I like to feel that I'm generally a Happy person and try to be optimistic when faced with a problem. The worse thing that can beset a person of my years is failing Health.

I'm afraid to say that the time has arrived,

My darling Husband Ian has to have Heart surgery to repair a leaky valve and to fit a stent in an artery.

We have one of the finest Heart and Chest Hospitals in the world so that is a comfort to a wife who is a natural worrier!

However, before his Heart is fixed he had to go on Dialysis as his kidneys are not functioning well. This has been going on for quite some time but now is 'crunch' time.

He is, at present, having a tube fitted so that he can have a saline drip to do the work  of his failing kidneys. The 'up' side of this the treatment can be done at home, instead of being Hooked up three times per week to a Dialysis machine at the unit. Also it can be done at night whilst he is sleeping... so dear readers, my Heart aches for him. I hate to think of his discomfort.

Happy Day and Hearts full of gladness.

Happy Day, A very proud Papa Ian leading his much loved daughter Astrid  down the aisle to be married to Ian Jnr. (another Ian).

A fortune teller recently told one of my daughters that she came from a line of very strong women.

Now for a little humour.

A Shrimp.  by Ogden Nash.

(Mr Nash never fails to make me smile and when I smile it means It means)... I'm Happy...

A shrimp who sought his lady shrimp

Could catch no glimpse

Not even a glimp.

At times translucence.

Is rather a nuisance.

That's better a line or two from Ogden Nash alway makes me ......'HAPPY' and better still my darling has phoned to say he will be home soon and all is.... HUNKYDORY.

My thanks to Denise the creator of ABCW and Roger and Leslie who deal with the admiistration of the site and not forgetting the HAPPY BAND OF HELPERS who assist wth the visits each week.

Best wishes to all,
from,
Di.

  1. Oh my dear Di what a time full of worries... and although it does not concern my husband, a very dear friend has to go through that same ordeal one of these days... So I feel the worry you feel.

I pray for that friend of mine but now I will include both your names as well.

Take care, be strong and hold on to faith!

    Have a nice ABC-day / -week

  3. Hi Di! Your post is as always a pleasant one to read, even if the subject deals with something very worrying. I hope that your husband will soon recover. It is good that he can be at home most of the time. You are so optimistic and brave. I admire you!

  4. Oh I am so glad everything is "hunky-dory!" Please give him my very best wishes for a restful recovery. I, too, am looking at these years as the "other side of the hill" now. On March 14th I see the surgeon about fusing L5 of my spine. He's the same surgeon who did the triple fusion in Jan. 09 and at that time he told me L5 would have to be done in about 5 years...I've gone over 8 years now since then. I think I overdid it last summer, although I'd already been feeling symptoms and it's become worse since coming home. So no England or Wales for me this year as I think I will save my energy for when I'm all finished with operations and healing and then, watch out world! I'll be back, even if I'm the little old lady with the cane...

    1. Good to hear from you.
Ian is back home and quite happy, won't be able to drive until the district nurse has inspected his wound in about 10 days time, and then he has to go into out patients for 4 days 9 to 4pm to get used to connecting up to his drip.
He feels a bit battered and bruised but otherwise fine. Part one over !
Sorry you've got to have more surgery but if it helps well that's great xx
      Love Di xx

  15. They do some wonderful heart work nowadays although the dialysis isn't pleasant (my cousin had to have that). Wishing him well and that everything goes smoothly. The Bette Davies quote always pops into my mind 'old age is no place for sissies' (usually when my sciatica's playing up).

  16. I recover open-heart patients direct from OR at least twice a week. Most of them for valve, some for bypass. They do fine. I hope for the best recovery for your husband. Take those pain pills. Him not you. :)

  18. Hello Di, I'm sorry to hear about your Hubs. The positive thing is that medical technology has advanced quite far for fixing our kidneys and hearts and allowing us to almost wander about as usual. Sending you and your husband positive thoughts. Big hugs, Susie.
