Wonderful post for I ~ fun photos and you have excellent taste in fountain pens ~ thanks,
ReplyDeleteWishing you a lovely week ~ ^_^
Hi Carol, I do love my Waterman pens but also i think Parker and Osman pens are pretty good, I find tha the Watermans pens are easier to hold in my arthritic hands as they have a 'chubbier' barrel.
DeleteNice to hear from you,
Best wishes to you and youe cute little 'dawgie',

Oh my gosh! You've taken me back to my elementary school days when I, too, learned to write with a nib pen and real ink! But I am glad we've progressed to newer types of pens as I was always getting ink on my hands and it was incredibly difficult to wash off. What a unique post this week, Di.

Hi Leslie,
DeleteIt seems I'm dwelling a lot in the past of late, is it a sign of age or just the fondest of memories are usually the best?
Now that I have lived for more than 71 years I sure have a lot to write about.
Even with my washable blue ink I still manage to get it all over my hands and arms, I have a habbit of putting my pen down without the lid, then manage to get ink all over the place!
As ever, thanks for your kind comments,
love Di.

What a wonderful subject to choose for an entry Di.
ReplyDeleteLong time ago I loved writing with those kinds of pens also, as my joints showed more and more problems I stopped with it and changed to a keyboard at a computer. So I understand your passion
Have a nice ABC-day / -week

Hi Melody,
DeleteThanks for your kind comments, we both seem to be inflicted with joint problems which, sometimes are dismissed by others as a bit of arthritis, this really irritates me...if only they knew !
My hands are not too bad, I can hold my pens most of the time but sometimes even tapping away on my keyboard hurts like hell. I have got a voice operation thingy on my PC but not yet quite sure how to operate it, although I haven't tried it yet! I'd like to be able to draw little sketches to accompany my blogs but then, haven't worked out how to do that either..I'm a bit of a Philistine when it comes to technology.
Hopeyou have good pain relief for your problematic joints,
Best wishes,
Di.

Funnily enough we ent to an auction the other day and there was a box full of Quick and pens - made me quite nostalgic!!
ReplyDeleteTwo of my Waterman pens I bought on E-Bay for a good price and in immaculate condition as they are hellishly
ReplyDeleteexpensive retail. I'm on the lookout for another one.
One of the said pens was in a special box with ink, a change of nib and a thingy to change over from cartidges.
Hope you are now fully recovered from your nasty virus.
Love Di. xxx,
Hi, Di,
ReplyDeleteA cousin crafted a feather quill for me many years ago. I ought to find a bottle of ink and give it a scratchy try. I love the idea of writing with an ink pen. Unfortunately for me, I'm the kind who ends up with splotches on the paper and ink on my fingers, hands, and arms. How it would get there, I don't know. I also love the scratch, scratch sound of the pen on paper. Hugs to you, Susie
Hello Su-sieee,
Deleteso good to hear from you, I think the more modern day
Fountain pens are designed better and don't leak.
But then two of my Watermans pens are quite old but still
work perfectly without leaking, if you're interesting look them up on e-bay then look at the new pens on the Watermans site and do a price comparison.. Go on..... I'll give you my address and you can write me a letter.... never too old to start up old traditions and become pen friends..
love n hugs
Di.

Yes, yes, I want to be pen friends, Di. I'll write in ballpoint until I get a scratchy pen. :-) Here's my email address -- susieeemac at gmail dot com -- for you to send your snail mail. Oooh, what fun!
DeleteThanks for visiting Nickers and Ink Poetry and Humor and for your kind comments.
ReplyDeleteOops. I read ABC Wednesday's "I Love Music" post as M-Day (for MUSIC), not I-Day. And I posted accordingly. ;-)

Thanks, Di!
DeleteIt's so sad that penmanship is no longer taught in our public elementary schools in the USA. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteHello Arnoldo,
Deletelovely to hear from you and thanks for your comments.
I totally agree with you,it's just the same in the UK.
Every thing is done now for speed and convenience, shame.
I remember my dear Mama steeping my ink splattered school
shirts in a white vinegar and cold water solution.
I think I had the whitest shirts in my year.
Although we weren't a very wealthy family, we were always
turned out well in our school uniforms and always had decent shoes, which my father would re-sole them when they were worn out.
And as we walked everywhere they soon got worn and needed repair..
Blessings my friend.

I bought myself Fountain pens a couple of times as a young college student. I love them. Can be messy though especially when I dropped and broke the bottle. But I remembered feeling classy using them.
ReplyDeleteI know Carin,
ReplyDeleteI'm not that old fashioned but there are several traditions, I feel is good to uphold, and i do love my fountain pens and bottles of ink.
Good to hear from you,
Best wishes,

That reminds me my school time ! Now I don't even remember when I last wrote by hand, a shopping list for sure ! When I write something for me, I can't write by hand because it's not quick enough. To follow my thoughts I needed a typewriter already in the past, now, it's the computer of course, but it's with a keyboard I write !
