D for Dreams.

As you all probably know I am a great Poetry fan,
I came across this sweet little verse a while ago,
I liked it so much that  put it my special little,
 ABCW book of ideas,
to use at an appropriate time, as now.
I do hope you like it.

DREAMS.....  by Langston Hughes.
Hold fast to dreams
for if dreams die,
Life is a broken winged bird
That cannot fly
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go.
Life is a barren field
frozen with snow.

Childhood Dreams.

When I was a small child
 I used to DREAM of
Tinkerbell.

Tinkerbell said to Peter Pan

'You know the place between sleep and wake,

the place where you still can remember DREAMING,

that's where I'll always love you,

 That's where I'll be waiting'.

 'Never Never Land'
It was a place where children never
grew up and had wonderful adventures
The story is the classic children's story
called Peter Pan, written by J.M. Barrie.
Peter was a boy who refused to grow up.
he would fly out of his bedroom window
taking with him a few friends he also had a special
friend in Tinkerbell the fairy.
They had many adventures in Neverland and
Peter had several skirmishes with Captain Hook
and a ticking crocodile.

Peter fighting with Captain Hook.

Eventually during their final skirmish Peter pushed Captain Hook into the Crocodile's jaws and wicked Hook was eaten... Hurrah !

    1. Hello leslie,
When I was a child, I had one of the original copies of the book but must confess, some of the descriptions and illustrations in Never Never Land, I found rather scary.
About dreaming, I feel, one is never to old to dream and you are more in a position now, I suspect, to be
      able to follow your dreams..
Being a dreamer myself, I truly believe that there's always something around the corner so go on my dear friend, go follow those dreams.

    1. Hello Melody,
Yes, it is good to dream but one mustn't lose sight of
reality...When I first met my husband Ian, I was so 'in love'
that I dreamed all the time of us getting married, five years later, we married, so I guess my dream came true (married 30 years this year). I some times dream of having a large lottery win so that i could help our family out also several charities close to my heart.
      Best wishes Melody,

    1. Hi Carol,
Yes, Langston Hughes is a wondeful writer, sometimes simple and hits the spot but then deep and very stirring, I haven't covered him before but I hope to look at more of his writing
      in the future.

      Best wishes,

  12. I like your idea of having an ABCW book of ideas. Those ideas come and go for me, so writing in a book is a very good idea. The statue is beautiful as are your thoughts about Never Never Land.

    1. Hisey Su-sieee,
I am ashamed to say I've only recently discovered him.
When I was at college we studied most of the classic
British poets, which is hardly surprising as the UK is oozing with them.
I have researched quite a few great American poets including E.A. Poe, Maya Angelo (favouite), Longfellow, Ogden May, Mark Twain,Louisa M Alcott etc.I'm definitely into Langton Hughes right now and What a complex man he was!
Since I retired I have a thirst for all kinds of things that I'd neve even thought abou,t since finishing my education.
