I stands for INDIGO.

INDIGO is one of my favourite colours, it is regarded as the colour between Blue and Violet, which are also among my favourite colours.

The fascinating fascinator!

Ian and I married in 1987, as this was a second marriage, and three lovely daughters later, I didn't want to marry in white so I chose a beautiful, floaty, chiffon INDIGO dress and I wore a matching INDIGO Fascinator.

I was just so happy to be marrying a man who was so kind and loving to me and my three girls, so INDIGO means happiness to me . Ian did wear a matching  lovely INDIGO silk tie to compliment my colour scheme.

Last weekend we celebrated Mothering Sunday which is a religious observance in the Anglican calender. it was devised so that children should pay homage to their mothers and thank them for their love and care. At  the end of the service, children we were given a small posy of spring flowers, to give to their mothers, the posy's including INDIGO pansies and violets.

loving daughters to celebrate MOTHERING SUNDAY.

My sincere thanks to the incomparable Denise for devising ABCW and also to the infallible Roger for doing all he does in such an inexhaustible way. Also I mustn't forget the intrepid band of indefatigable helpers who buzz around all the  ABCW'ers blogs to help Roger with the visits.

My very best wishes to one and all.

  2. What a lovely post and I love the idea of an indigo floaty-style dress. I had considered a lilac colour for my recent "do" but opted instead for ivory as I never had a "real" wedding gown at my first wedding. Glad you had a lovely Mothering Day. Ours is in May.

    1. You looked gorgeous in your ivory wedding dress Leslie and so sad things turned out the way they did, but remember the little adage, 'When the lord closes the door he surely opens a window'.
Hope you're getting sorted in your new condo, it looks lovely,

  6. Thank you for sharing this part of your life . It so happens that indigo and blue are also my favourite colours. Your weddingdress must have been fabulous!
Thanks also for your comment on my blog. What an unpleasant man your teacher was. Actually not fit to be a teacher. He was a bully, but possibly bullied himself and not able to deal with it. You suffered from him and he had a terrible influence on you and, who knows how many other children.
    Have a great week, Di.

    1. My dress was lovely, well Ian thought it was, lot's of compliments. Well! If a girl can't look good on her wedding day, when can she ? We will have been married 30 years next year.
Yes that teacher was a bully he used to throw books at pupil too.he wouldn't have got away with it now. He didn't deter me from getting the education I so desired. Mean Man!!

  9. Di, I share your love of indigo, perhaps starting with some Madras plaid material my aunt brought back from their trip to India in the 1960s. Something so true about the shade.

Love your details about your wedding! Ian sounds like a blessing. Amy

    1. Hi Amy,
good to hear from you. The colours in the sari's that Indian ladies wear are fabulous they always look so glamorous, although I'm not sure how they get into them ?

  11. Di, my wedding dress for my first marriage was a deep blue suede dress. Wish I had kept it. I'd probably fit in it now. You are the first person who wore a blue dress for her wedding. I recall reading the blue was the color of choice for brides way back when.

  12. Hi Susee. I too regret throwing my first wedding dress away, it was white velvet, I didn't know that blue was a traditional colour back in the day.
    Thanks for stopping by.
